The
Greater Boston Stop the Wars Coalition condemns the
wholesale slaughter inflicted on the Palestinian and
Lebanese peoples as acts of conquest and barbarism. We
condemn the U.S. government’s bipartisan support for this
assault and demand that the Israeli government stop its
murderous bombing and ground campaign against Lebanon and
Palestine and withdraw all of its troops immediately.
Israel's current huge offensive is violating the spirit of
the U.N. resolution and is aimed at undermining it and
making it a dead letter.
Our tax dollars pay for the
bombs dropped in Lebanon and Gaza and the deaths of
Palestinian and Lebanese men, women and children. According
to Lebanese officials the Israeli assault has killed over
1,000 people, wounded 3,000, and turned nearly a million
into refugees without clean water, electricity, sanitation,
and access to medicine, hospitals, or food. The devastation
of homes and infrastructure has been enormous.
This destruction is
underwritten by the United States, which has over decades
given Israel aid in excess of $10 million EVERY DAY. The US
has supplied Israel with advanced aircraft, high tech
munitions and cluster bombs, which it is using against the
Lebanese people and infrastructure. We demand that all U.S.
aid to Israel be ended immediately!
The wars being conducted in
the Middle East and beyond have nothing to do with defending
the safety or security of working families here or anywhere
else. These assaults are but an extension of the assault
being carried out against our living conditions and rights
here at home. We call on all those who defend justice,
self-determination, and peace in the Middle East to continue
the campaign for the complete withdrawal of all Israeli
occupation troops from Lebanon and Palestine and an
immediate end to the bombing campaign. |
